Media Release 28 December 2025
The murder of all the male children under two in Bethlehem on the orders of King Herod is a stark reminder that the murder of innocent children continues today. For more than 500 years the Catholic Church has commemorated the murder and martyrdom of the Holy Innocents, who were killed by an enraged King Herod, in a futile attempt to kill Christ the King, whom he saw as a threat to his reign.
King Herod the tyrant is dead, but the culture of death continues unabated and thirst for the blood of innocent children who are made in the image and likeness of their Creator.
Today like Herod, our government sees babies as a threat to their reign, and approve and fund the killing on demand of all children up to twenty weeks gestation and up to birth if a doctor considers it appropriate.
If we are really appalled at the slaughter of the Holy Innocents at Bethlehem, then we should be appalled at the daily slaughter of innocent unborn children in our hospitals. Why then is there a deafening silence from many churches and from the media?
Every year an estimated 60 million innocent unborn children are murdered in the world by being poisoned, sucked out of their mother’s womb or are dismembered and their mothers deeply wounded spiritually, psychologically and physically.
The Ministry of Health which presides over the abortion industry in New Zealand has reported that 17,785 holy innocents were murdered in their mother’s womb in 2024 under the guise that this was a "health service".
We should grieve with our Creator, who is present at the murder of His precious infants. His grief and pain at the killing of each child is beyond human comprehension and endures for all eternity. We should also grieve with the mothers who have often been coerced and intimidated to choose death for their precious child.
