Media Release 8 October 2025
Since 2002, with the introduction of Mifepristone, more than 40,000 innocent and defenceless unborn children up to ten weeks gestation have been deliberately starved to death in their mother’s womb in New Zealand in early medical abortions with Mifepristone and Misoprostol.
Istar Ltd is the sole importer and distributor of the lethal abortion drug, Mifepristone. Istar was registered in February 1999 as no New Zealand pharmaceutical company was prepared, in the face of staunch opposition from Right to Life and others, to import the murder drug, RU486.
Right to Life applauds the commendable objective of the directors to promote women’s health. Right to Life asks how do you promote women’s health by killing their children?
Right to Life believes that the directors of Istar must accept responsibility for the killing of our children and will be held to account on judgement day when they appear before the judgement seat of God when He will demand justice for the murder of His precious infants. May His justice be tempered with mercy.
Right to Life is saddened that these highly qualified medical professionals, who were trained to protect life, devoted their skill to the killing of unborn children, the weakest and most defenceless members of our human family.
Right to Life believes that the following founding directors of Istar Ltd were well known abortionists: Dr Diana Edwards, Dr Carol Shand and Dame Dr Margaret Sparrow.
Professor Peter Stone and Mr John Tait, Obstetricians and Gynaecologists were also founding directors.
In 2007 they were joined by abortionist Dr Simon Snook. Dr Diana Edwards retired in 2012, then in 2021 Professor Peter Stone and Mr John Tait stepped down to be replaced by abortionists Dr Gillian Gibson and Dr Alison Knowles. In 2022 Dame Margaret Sparrow and Dr Simon Snook resigned and were replaced by a pharmacist, Mr Simon Ogden.
Right to Life makes no apology in speaking up on behalf of our precious unborn whose humanity and right to life they cruelly denied, they were considered of little worth and their broken and dismembered bodies were dispatched as “medical waste” with our waste water. Rather than being publicly lauded, Right to Life believes that they are guilty of crimes against humanity. We also protest on behalf of their mothers, the second victim of abortion, who are wounded and left with a lifetime of grief and sorrow.
