Is your Chemist an abortion provider?

Right to Life believes that there is an urgent need for our community to oppose those pharmacists in New Zealand, who prescribe and sell abortion pills to kill God’s precious infants before they are born. Abortion providers do not deserve our patronage.
The Ministry of Health has advised Right to Life that the provisional number of Early Medical Abortions (EMAs) performed in 2025 was 11871, which represents 67% of the total of 17,964 abortions (medical and surgical) performed.
Right to Life is very concerned at the drastic increase in EMAs from 22% of all abortions in 2019 to 67% in 2025. Women are being seduced to quickly decide to have a medical abortion in the privacy of their own homes, with no medical support and the trauma of disposing of the remains of her dismembered child.
There are 1,100 registered pharmacists in New Zealand. We are advised by the Ministry of Health that there are approximately 550 registered pharmacies in New Zealand which provide drugs for EMAs, and these are on the Ministry of Health’s list of authorised dispensers for the abortion pills Mifepristone and Misoprostol.
Pharmacists now make up the largest group of professionals in the “abortion work force”.
The abortion industry has now infiltrated and seduced the medical profession, the midwifery profession, and the nursing profession.
It was only 50 years ago that these professions were members of the culture of life, and were totally committed to protecting the lives of unborn children. Right to Life commends those professionals who have remained faithful to the defence of life.
Right to Life is grateful to the United States Catholic Bishop’s Conference, for instituting a campaign to oppose pharmacists from selling abortion pills in the USA. We need the same campaign here in New Zealand to oppose those pharmacies selling lethal abortion pills, to poison unborn children in their first ten weeks of life.
Right to Life has written to all 1100 registered pharmacies in N.Z. twice in the last twelve months to discourage them from selling abortion pills. We are again writing to them to reinforce our defence of life and our opposition to the killing of their defenceless unborn patients.
We have been encouraged by several pharmacists who have commended us for our advocacy. We have been delighted to receive an assurance that they refuse to be implicated in the killing of the unborn.
Several pharmacists have advised us that they will continue to provide abortion pills as a lawful “health service.”
They informed us that it was not our business to request that they stop this, and that if we really wanted to reduce the number of abortions we should promote increased contraception and sex education in schools. Right to Life totally disagrees with these responses.
Right to Life makes no apology for being a voice for the unborn and their precious mothers, who are the second victim of abortion.
We will not be silenced, and we will continue to defend our precious brothers and sisters.
