Is the National Party really concerned about children?

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon announced at the recent annual conference of the N.Z. National Party in Lower Hutt, that if a National led government was re-elected at the next general election, that they would register every child at birth with a KiwiSaver account and make a deposit of $1500 into every child’s account.
Right to Life commends this initiative, which recognises that our children are the future of our nation. It should, however, be seen as a distraction from the violent genocide inflicted on our unborn children.
Right to Life believes that the National Party is inconsistent in its concern for children. This is the party that wages war against women and the unborn with a state funded and authorised campaign of genocide against unborn children. Today the most dangerous place for a New Zealander is in their mother’s womb. In 2025 there were 17,964 innocent and defenceless unborn New Zealand children murdered up to birth for any reason.
During the current term of the National led government more than 40,000 unborn children have been killed, funded by the state as a “health service”.
Today the National Party generously offers a KiwiSaver account with a deposit of $1500 to the born child and a violent state funded death to one fifth of unborn children.
The National Party was founded by men and women whose founding ethos was firmly rooted in traditional Christian values that recognised that life began at conception, and that every human being was a unique and unrepeatable miracle of God’s loving creation, deserving of respect and protection.
Today Right to Life believes the National Party has rejected its Christian roots and will not allow any National MP to question the murder of our unborn children.
• It denies the humanity of the unborn child from conception and believes the fiction that the unborn child does not become a human being endowed with a right to life until it is born.
• It believes that every woman has a right to kill her children up to 20 weeks pregnancy for any reason and after 20 weeks up to birth if a doctor considers it “appropriate”.
Right to Life encourages the National Party to return to its Christian roots and give legal recognition to the status of unborn children as human beings endowed by their Creator with an inalienable right to life. It should also repeal the extremist Abortion Legislation Act and provide effective legal protection for the lives of unborn children. A nation that kills its own children is a nation without a future.
