Does New Zealand need a Prime Minister who supports the murder of God’s precious infants and the war against women?

Right to Life believes that we have a serious moral duty NOT to vote for a Prime Minister nor for any candidate for election to Parliament, who is not prepared to protect the lives of all New Zealanders from conception to natural death.

Abortion is intrinsically evil and violates the Fifth commandment of God “You shall not kill.” In contravention of this commandment, the Prime Minister and his government have approved and funded the killing (“murder”) of more than 50,000 unborn children in New Zealand since 2023.

In 20921, the Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, on being elected as the leader of the National Party, stated on Radio NZ that he believed that abortion is murder, ”that was what a pro-life position is.” Right to Life asks why then does he permit the murder of the weakest and most defenceless members of our human family?

As Prime Minister, he has explicitly committed to maintaining New Zealand's current abortion laws, stating that his government will not change, relitigate, or reduce access to abortion services. The abortion laws are “settled laws” and will not be changed under his leadership.

Right to Life believes that no law is “settled law” that may not be changed. In pursuit of a just society we have a serious duty to oppose, amend and repeal unjust laws that violate the law of God and the dignity of man.

Right to Life believes that his caucus supports this policy position and that National MPs are prohibited from raising this issue in Parliament or seeking to present a private member’s bill to amend the abortion legislation.

The Prime Minister has pledged that he would sooner resign as Prime Minister than allow abortion access or funding to be restricted under his government. Nicola Willis, deputy leader of the National Party, fully supports this abortion policy.

The Prime Minister maintains that his personal morals are separate from his duties as a political leader, asserting that he is in office to serve the interests of all New Zealanders, not to impose his personal beliefs.

Right to Life questions the Prime Minister’s assertion that his personal morals and informed conscience should be subjected to upholding the law that permits the murder of God’s precious unborn infants.

Right to Life believes that human-made laws must align with universal moral truths, human rights, and divine justice. If a law violates these core principles, it loses its moral legitimacy, and all citizens including Prime Ministers and members of Parliament are absolved of their obligation to obey them.

In his famous letter from a Birmingham jail, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. famously asserted that "one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws". He argued that any law that degrades human personality is inherently unjust.

Right to Life believes that if you are not prepared to defend and protect the lives of our precious unborn children, you are not worthy to govern us.

We are aware that the National Party was, in recent times, previously strongly pro-life, and as a consequence enjoyed strong electoral support.

We believe that if the National Party returned to upholding as its policy, the right to life of every human being from conception to natural death, then it would receive increased electoral support from the voters of New Zealand.

We request that Prime Minister Luxon adopts an authentic pro-life position opposing the “murder” of the unborn and the war against women, the second victim of abortion.
