Media Release 7 December 2025

The New Zealand Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, is asking the community to re-elect him in 2026, and the National Party to govern us for a further three years at our next general election.

Those who seek to govern us should be committed to protecting the lives of every New Zealander from conception to natural death.

Those candidates for Parliament who are not prepared to protect the right to life of unborn children, should not be trusted to protect the lives of the born.

The Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, who correctly believes that abortion is murder, pledged prior to the 2023 general election that under his government abortion services would continue to be funded by the state.

The Prime Minister has kept his promise with the National led coalition - government funding the killing of an estimated 50,000 unborn children, poisoned, scraped out of their mother’s wombs, or dismembered with their mothers wounded spiritually, physically and psychologically. This is a violation of God’s Fifth Commandment, “Thou shalt not kill”, It is also a crime against humanity.

Right to Life makes no apology for speaking up in defence of women and their unborn children.

At the 2025 annual conference of the National Party the Prime Minister stated:- “New Zealand needs a health system that puts patients first and is relentlessly focused on delivering the care Kiwis need when they need it. Making that happen is a top priority for my government.”

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon | Leader of the National Party.

Unborn children are also patients, and they are the weakest and most defenceless members of our family. They deserve and need special protection and care. Right to Life asks: why is the government not relentlessly focused on delivering the care that our unborn children need, when they need it, and providing support for mothers faced with an unplanned pregnancy.

Pregnancy is not a disease and abortion is not health care. The extremist Abortion Legislation Act 2020 permits the killing of normal healthy unborn children up to 20 weeks gestation for any reason and up to birth if a doctor considers it “appropriate”.

Right to Life believes that if you are not prepared to defend and protect the lives of our precious unborn children, you are not worthy to govern us.

Right to Life is aware that the National Party was in recent times previously strongly pro-life, and as a consequence enjoyed strong electoral support.

Right to Life believes that if the National Party returned to upholding as policy, the right to life of every human being from conception to natural death, that it would receive increased electoral support from the voters of New Zealand.

Right to Life encourages the community to vote only for candidates for parliament at the 2026 general election, who are committed to defending the right to life of our precious unborn children and protecting the health of their mothers.
