Right to Life gives thanks to God for the defunding of Planned Parenthood – a victory for life!

The recent passing of legislation by the United States congress and Senate, and its signing by President Donald Trump on 4th July has resulted in the defunding of Planned Parenthood Inc., and the abortion industry in the United States. It celebrates the unprecedented success of more than 40 years of dedicated lobbying by the pro-life movement in the United States since the notorious 1973 Supreme Court ruling of Roe v. Wade.

Right to Life rejoices with the women of America and their precious unborn children, who will be free from the violence inflicted on them by Planned Parenthood, which has murdered more than 10 million unborn babies since Roe v. Wade in 1973, at a rate of more than 400,000 abortions annually. Planned Parenthood has received annual federal funding under Medicaid,of more than US$500 million for the murder of the defenceless unborn and the violence inflicted on their victimized and wounded mothers.

In some instances federal funding that was previously allocated to Planned Parenthood has been redirected towards promoting pregnancy centres and adoption services which protect life and promote a culture of life.

In a 6 to 3 decision on 26th June 2025, The United States Supreme Court supported the right of South Carolina to withhold state funding of Planned Parenthood. This important decision sets a precedent which now allows all states to withhold state funding of Planned Parenthood for abortions.

The international community is indebted to the pro-life movement in the United States for its campaign of prayer and dedicated opposition to the war against women and God’s precious infants, this is a stunning victory over the culture of death.

It is an appalling injustice and a crime against humanity that taxpayers should be compelled to fund the killing of our own children. Right to Life encourages the international pro-life movement to follow the leadership of the American pro-life movement in campaigning within their own nation for the defunding of the abortion industry of taxpayer funding.

Right to Life gives thanks to God, the author of life, for this victory over the culture of death and protection of the lives of His precious infants who are unique and unrepeatable miracles of His loving creation.
