Opportunity Party supports war against women and unborn!

Right to Life believes that those who are not prepared to protect the lives of the unborn should not be trusted to protect the lives of the born.
Right to Life believes that The Opportunity Party is not fit to sit in our Parliament.
Right to Life is concerned that recent polling reveals that The Opportunity Party may be elected to our Parliament with just over 5% of the total party vote. We believe that they could become the “king maker” in deciding the formation of the next government and their election would be a cause of massive disruption in our Parliament, and an acceleration in the war against women and our precious unborn.
Right to Life commends the National Party for declaring that under no circumstances will it enter into a coalition agreement with the Opportunity Party.
Right to Life requests the Right Hon. Christopher Hipkins, Leader of the Opposition, to also make a public commitment that under no circumstances will the Labour Party enter into a coalition agreement with The Opportunity Party.
In response to an election questionnaire from Right to Life, the policy team of the Opportunity Party advised our Society in March 2026 that :-
• The Opportunity Party did not support legal recognition of unborn children from conception as human beings endowed by their Creator with an inalienable right to life.
• The Opportunity Party did not believe that it has a responsibility to provide effective legal protection for the right to life of every New Zealander from conception to natural death.
The Opportunity Party states that “its policy is to stand for opportunity for every Kiwi”.
Right to Life questions this policy. How can you stand for opportunity for every New Zealander, when you refuse to recognise that human life begins at conception, and that every human being is a unique and unrepeatable miracle of God’s loving creation?
Right to Life believes that those who are not prepared to protect the lives of the unborn should not be trusted to protect the lives of the born. Right to Life is disappointed that our election questionnaire, sent to all political parties represented in the current Parliament, did not solicit a response.
