Gloria Steinem betrayed women and the family by advocating false reproductive freedom that allowed women to kill their children before they were born, this is not genuine feminism but anti-feminism.

Right to Life is praying for the happy repose of the soul of Gloria Steinem. We grieve with her family who mourn her death.

It is a tragedy that she did not recognise God’s plan for the family as founded exclusively on marriage between one man and one woman. Nor did she recognise the sublime dignity of women in being chosen to co-operate with Him in the creation of new human beings.

Gloria suffered an abortion in London at the age of 22 which she celebrated declaring that the death of her child liberated her to live her life as she wished.

“The most important person on earth is a mother. She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral - a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby’s body. The angels have not been blessed with such a grace. They cannot share in God’s creative miracle to bring new saints to Heaven. Only a human mother can. Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature; God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation ... What on God’s good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?” ~ Venerable Jozsef Cardinal Mindszenty

Gloria was a remarkable woman recognised by the feminist movement as an international leader in advocating for women’s rights.

She was passionate and dedicated to promoting the human rights of women. She is applauded for promoting the rights of women in the workplace and advocating for equal pay for women, she was opposed to sexual harassment and domestic abuse.

Gloria was tragically mistaken in believing that women would not be free until they had the right to kill their children before they were born.

Right to Life hopes that women today will, as true feminists, embrace the unique dignity of womanhood, defend unborn children, God’s precious infants, and celebrate God’s plan for procreation and families.
